Re-Creation is a spatial exploration of originality and copyability by Lassila Hirvilammi Architects. The second part of the two-part installation premiering at the Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture will be completed in January.

Based on a concept by architect Anssi Lassila, Re-Creation was designed for the Shenzhen Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture (UUAB) in 2013. Its second part will be completed during the biennale. The first was completed beforehand in Finland to feature at the opening of the biennale in December.

Re-Creation explores a universal concept of space. As suggested by its title, it presents two distinct versions of space in two alternative contexts, one executed in Finland and the other in China, both crafted in collaboration with local master carpenters. The two spaces created by the Finnish and Chinese teams differ from each other in their materials, construction technique and formal vocabulary.

Lassila Hirvilammi Architects premiere their Re-Creation installation in the Value Factory’s Silo building. Silo is designed by an international team of architects including O-Office architects (China), Lassila Hirvilammi architects (Finland), Maurer United Architects (Netherlands) and Berlage Institute (Netherlands).
